If there are 6 days or less before the election, please utilize one of our 24-hour drop-site locations.If mailing, do so no later than 7 days before the election.To ensure your ballot will be received in time, our recommendation is as follows: Please note, only ballots mailed through USPS can be accepted after election day. If mailing, your ballot must have been postmarked by the United States Postal Service (USPS) no later than Election Day and be received in the office of the County Clerk no later than 7 days after the election. If using a drop-site location, your ballot must be in a designated drop-box no later than 8pm Election Day. You no longer need to find time to go down to the polling place to vote on Election Day you may return your ballot in one of two ways. With this system your ballot will be mailed to you. Oregon has held all elections since 1999 by mail. Oregon was the first state in the United States to conduct all of its elections using vote by mail. The Oregon Elections Division regularly updates voter registration lists to remove people who are no longer eligible to vote or who are deceased. This decision has been formally approved by the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office and will save money and staff time. Your privacy and the secrecy of your vote has always been, and will continue to be, protected throughout the ballot counting process. The outer signature envelope (with the pink stripe) has printed security weave on the inside that protects each voter’s privacy. This additional envelope has always been optional for voters but now it is no longer needed. Secrecy envelopes are no longer included with ballot packets in Coos County.
